Tom Henderson of the Hexham and District Motor Club is rallying together (excuse the pun) classic and modern rally cars for this year’s show which gives enthusiasts chance to closely examine the vehicles and talk to the owners. The club has come a long way since its beginnings in 1948 when it was created by a group of motorcycle enthusiasts who participated in off road scrambling and road trials. By the ‘50’s they’d graduated to cars with some members participating in the Monte Car Rally. The 60’s became a highpoint when the club was recognised at MSA level with 12 car rallies, hill climbs, autocross and Hexham Rally which continues to this day, now called the John Robson Rally. There’s a 50-year affinity with Slaley as the group ran the ‘Slaley Stages’ for several years – does anyone remember them? We’re looking for pictures!

Next opportunity to see them in action is the Kielder Tanga Rally on 31st August – 200 test miles around Kielder Forest
